A former Naval intelligence officer and attorney in the Office of General Counsel for the NSA, Erik is well-positioned to help clients navigate complex cybersecurity and emerging technology challenges. Along with his law degree, Erik has a Master’s in Cybersecurity Law.
As the head of Husch Blackwell’s Cybersecurity and Data Privacy practice groups, and Co-Chair of the firm's AI practice group, Erik focuses on compliance requirements related to AI, Cybersecurity and Data Privacy, with an emphasis on clients in critical infrastructure sectors and federal contractors. Clients appreciate Erik’s diverse perspective and first-hand experience having handled 28 data security incidents across 9 industry sectors in 2024.
Erik has the following certifications applicable to AI, Cybersecurity and Data Privacy: AIGP, CIPP/US, and CIPM through the International Association of Privacy Professionals; National Cyber Security Centre's Cyber Incident Planning & Response through Cyber Management Alliance; and GIAC's Law of Data Security & Investigations through SANS Institute.
