Gregory N. Etzel concentrates his practice on the representation of hospitals and other healthcare providers in a variety of complex legal transactions and regulatory litigation. Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Greg spent four and a half years in-house as the vice president of legal affairs at The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), providing legal counsel and representing the entire institution on a wide range of issues involving strategic initiatives, hospital and medical school operations, transactions, litigation management, public information, and international affairs.

Brett represents all types of healthcare providers — including hospital systems, medical device manufacturers, air ambulance companies, pharmaceutical companies and physician groups — as plaintiffs and defendants in cases across the nation. Brett has substantial experience litigating managed care and reimbursement disputes, cases involving qui tam and alleged false claims, as well as complex commercial matters involving healthcare service agreements, facility agreements, restrictive covenants, employment, real estate and other healthcare business disputes. In addition to his litigation practice, Brett represents healthcare clients in numerous regulatory and compliance matters, including government investigations, medical staff actions, matters relating to alleged violations of HIPAA, and federal and state anti-kickback provisions and Stark laws. Prior to starting his legal practice, Brett was a public school teacher and teaching coach, and continues to serve on the board of a Episcopalian day school in Dallas, Texas.
