Ashlee is an experienced trial lawyer and former federal prosecutor who defends individuals and companies in grand jury and regulatory investigations as well as criminal and civil proceedings involving allegations of health care fraud, money laundering, tax fraud, kickbacks, securities fraud, opioid diversion, and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) violations.

Catherine “Kate” Wagner is a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice, Criminal Division, Fraud Section, Healthcare Fraud Unit, National Rapid Response Strike Force. As a member of the Fraud Section, she has charged dozens of individuals related to telemedicine, compounded drug, home healthcare, durable medical equipment, and other health care fraud schemes and tried multiple health care fraud cases. Prior to joining the Department of Justice, she was an associate at Williams & Connolly, LLP in Washington, D.C., and an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University Law Center. She clerked for the Honorable Stephen A. Higginson of the Fifth Circuit and the Honorable Nancy F. Atlas of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas.

Nathaniel C. Kummerfeld is the Branch Chief for the Tyler, Texarkana, and Marshall Divisions of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Texas. In this position, he supervises criminal prosecutions across two staffed offices and three divisions. From August 2020 to July 2023, he served as Deputy Criminal Chief for Complex Fraud and Public Corruption for the Eastern District of Texas. He also served as the district’s Health Care Fraud Coordinator.
