Session Overview
Domestic Violence survivors are the largest subpopulation of homeless individuals in the Los Angeles CoC. Survivors of domestic violence face systemic barriers that afford them less access to permanent housing programs. This presentation will discuss the best practices and lessons learned from Housing First programs that lower barriers for survivors.

Sarah Whitman

Sarah Whitman, MPA, is the Domestic Violence System Coordinator at LAHSA. She oversees eight DV Regional Coordinators. Sarah is a member of the Domestic Violence Homeless Services Core Team and co-leads the Systems and Funding Committee. Sarah played an integral role in passing SB 914.

Stephanie Whack, Domestic Violence Program Coordinator at Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, started her journey at a DV agency as a direct service provider. She specializes in the intersection of victimizations and homelessness. She is connected through diverse community groups to end the cycle of violence.

Iajhiah Giraud is the Domestic Violence System Alignment Manager at the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority. She holds a strong vision for the support and leadership role LAHSA can play in the intersection between domestic violence and homelessness. She holds a M.S in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Victimology.
