Session Overview

Homelessness among older adults is increasing amongst Veterans served in Housing and Urban Development-Veterans Affairs Supported Housing (HUD-VASH) programs aged 55 years and older. Ending homelessness among older adults will require increasing the supply of affordable housing, targeted prevention efforts, and expanding permanent supportive housing, adapted to older adult needs.

Deborah Lee is the HUD-VASH Regional Housing and Urban Development-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) Team at VA Central Office for Region 2 where she provides oversight and monitoring for HUD-VASH programs across the Southeast. Ms. Lee has held several positions in the Health Care for Homeless Veterans Program. and has been employed by the Department of Veterans Affairs for 29 years. Ms. Deborah Lee is a licensed clinical social worker with a specialization in substance abuse and aging. She graduated from East Carolina University, with a Bachelor of Science degree psychology in 1983. She received a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology degree from North Carolina Central University in 1987. She also received a Master of Social Work degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2003. She is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist in the State of North Carolina.
