Session Overview
The Unit Condition Response Team (UCRT) is a multidisciplinary pilot program dedicated to managing and maintaining unit conditions in 3 Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) sites operated by Downtown Emergency Service Center (DESC): Hobson Place, North Star, and Interbay Place. UCRT is focused on providing additional resources, counseling, and skills building to assist individuals with maintaining their housing and quality of life with a trauma-informed and harm reduction-centered approach.

Charlotte has worked for 15+ years with high acuity individuals ranging from childhood to adult. Charlotte has been with DESC for 3 years, in roles pertaining to supervising building renovations and Janitorial staff, in addition to overseeing the operations and unit conditions of the largest PSH at DESC.
Eugene Royster
Unit Mitigation Specialist

Gene Royster currently serves as a Unit Mitigation Specialist at DESC's Unit Conditions Response Team (UCRT), bringing three years of invaluable experience within DESC. Starting as an integral member of the Admin Support team, Gene has honed skills in client interaction, community resource coordination, and case management services. This path led Gene into his present role, directly engaging in living spaces, provides crucial support to facilities, and modeling independent living skills.
Patrick Szymanski

Patrick has worked in social services for over the past 20 years and has been at DESC for 11 years in a variety of roles including Housing Case Manager, PSH Project Manager, Senior Program Manager, and currently as a Housing Director. Patrick received his BS in Psychology from DeSales University.
