Displacement, Urban Safety an Inclusive Security Work

Anna Rau is the coordinating manager of the German Forum on Urban Security. She holds a degree in history and journalism and studied in Germany and Chile. Prior to joining DEFUS she held positions at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the German victim support organisation Weisser Ring e.V. During her time with GIZ Anna Rau developed a manual for systemic youth violence prevention and has gathered experiences in advising projects of the international development cooperation on youth violence prevention, capacity development, human rights and youth participation. For the Weisse Ring e.V., she coordinated the organisation's crime prevention activities and trained volunteers working in that area. She worked as a consultant on urban violence prevention and fragile cities for the German Development Cooperation. The German Forum for Urban Security is the German branch of the European Forum for Urban Security. Founded in 1987 under the auspices of the Council of Europe, the European Forum for Urban Security (Efus) is the only European network of local and regional authorities dedicated to urban security. It includes nearly 250 local and regional authorities from 16 countries. In Germany, 17 big cities and two organisations are a member of DEFUS. The objectives are: · Promote a balanced vision of urban security, combining prevention, sanctions and social cohesion, · Support local and regional authorities in the conception, implementation and evaluation of their local security policy, · Help local elected officials get recognition for their role in the development and implementation of national and European policies.
