Details
WOHNSCHIRM is the program of the Austrian Ministry of Social Affairs to prevent and end homelessness. Over the past three years, WOHNSCHIRM has created and expanded nationwide support structures – based on successful (pilot) projects that were originally initiated in response to the social consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, WOHNSCHIRM offers regional contact points for people in housing emergencies in all federal states. The programme combines Housing First with eviction prevention and pursues uniform standards in terms of benefits and financing – despite regionally different framework conditions. A particular challenge lies in the coordination of the diverse stakeholder groups from the social economy, the housing industry, politics and administration.
In the workshop, the program will be presented and discussed together how the transfer of successful, temporary models into long-term and comprehensive structures can succeed.
